Get to know the difference between Mandiri Street Fares and SBMPTN
For grade 12 students who are about to graduate, continuing to teach at university is certainly an important option, especially by passing the SNMPTN or SBMPTN in college, making tuition rates lighter than studying at private campuses. What is the difference between independent street fares and SBMPTN?
SBMPTN is certainly not a foreign thing, it is a joint selection to enter universities, a road for national acceptance of new students at PTN according to the results of the UTBK and the prerequisites for the option PTN.
In contrast to the independent road, the special selection path for prospective new students is provided by the PTN organizer. The tuition fees for SNMPTN and SBMPTN graduates are almost the same, only the registration fee differs, but not for the Mandiri track. There are differences between independent street fares and SBMPTN, as follows:
SBMPTN Registration Rates & Mandiri Tracks
The Higher Education Entrance Trial Institution (LTMPT) has considered the SBMPTN registration fee. LTMPT as the organizing institution carries out a measurable and programmed trial of university entrance selection, with applicable SBMPTN rates.
For example, in 2022, the registration fee for the SBMPTN is IDR 200,000 for the Science and Technology and Soshum categories, although the registration fee for the mixed exam group is IDR 300,000. The nominal SBMPTN registration is still the same for all State Universities (PTN).
Although the tuition rates for independent tracks imitate the policies of each state university. Prospective students should pay a higher registration fee when compared to the registration fee for SBMPTN students.
For example, when you want to register at IPB University on Jalan Mandiri, you should imitate the Entrance Filter Exam or USM. Trek Mandiri is a registration program for prospective students who have not successfully passed the SNMPTN or SBMPTN.
IPB University opens USM tracks for all study programs, faculties, and schools. If you want to enter the independent road, you must pay the selection fee to the faculty and the selection fee to the FSRD.
So, the difference between the independent street fares and the SBMPTN can be seen from the registration fee. The SBMPTN registration fee is the same for all PTNs, although the independent track rates are at the discretion of each PTN.
Teaching Rates
The difference between independent street fares and SBMPTN is also in the teaching rates. Students who have passed the SBMPTN track selection will pay lower tuition rates than students who pass the Mandiri street.
This is because of the legalization of UKT tuition rates for SBMPTN with the lowest rates on UKT 1 and UKT 2. What is UKT? Namely, Single Tuition, a payment method per semester that adjusts how much income the father and mother of each student earn.
This method is cross subsidies, the lower the income of parents, therefore the easier the UKT payments. Students with higher father and mother income will therefore get higher UKT payments.
Independent street students, therefore, should pay higher tuition fees if you compare them to SBMPTN streets. State Universities assign a high classification UKT weight to independent street students.
Tuition fees on independent tracks also still have a starting fee, and the payment of the entry fee certainly does not apply to students who have graduated from SBMPTN.
Now, you have understood the difference between Mandiri and SBMPTN street fares. This means that you can get more profit if you successfully pass the SBMPTN selection, because UKT also imitates your parents' income every month, and you don't have to pay a starting fee.
That's why, using the chance to enter a state university, the SBMPTN is opened. With careful preparation, I hope you can achieve your desire to study at a superior PTN at a relatively cheaper rate!
