Entering the world of lectures, you will receive an academic supervisor who will help facilitate the study program during the lecture period. So, academic supervisors are consistent lecturers who have been appointed by the campus according to the Chancellor's Decree to guide students in maximizing their potential. So this academic supervisor is obliged to solve his duties and is responsible for helping students to have good learning attitudes and behavior.

Academic Advisor Duties

As an academic supervisor, there are various types of tasks that must be done, such as the following;

Provide explanations and signs to students about the study agenda

Help provide guidance and advice to students regarding good study methods in overcoming the study period

Provide advice to students for selecting appropriate courses with the study program

Helping students in the progress of forming a study agenda by choosing ideal courses according to their abilities, attention, and teaching goals.

Research the causes and give approval to changes in the student's study agenda

Search, form, and confidentially store data of advised students.

Provide reports and suggestions to students regarding advice if needed

Giving warning to students who have low achievement

Provide sufficient time to consult with students, at least 3 times in one semester.

This task must be fulfilled by the academic supervisor in order to recognize the development of students during their studies. There are various kinds of actions that should be done by lecturers if students always have low achievements and do not really care about the period of study in lectures. So this academic supervisor can provide consultation regarding the implementation of student learning in lectures.

Prerequisites to Become an Academic Supervisor

These academic supervisors will be selected immediately by the campus and have received approval from the Chancellor. Of course, the campus did not just choose, because they expect someone who is capable of carrying out the duties of an academic supervisor. There are various variations of requirements that can be considered by the campus to find academic supervisors, such as the following;

Have chosen that is consistent lecturer or consistent lecturer work agreement

Mastering the Rector's decree as DPA

According to the progress of learning to educate, if the credit method is SKS semester,

Understanding and mastering academic methods, curriculum composition, and counseling techniques

Be a lecturer in a study program for at least 1 year.

There are some lecturers who meet these requirements, they need to be re-elected so that later there is a DPA that is really suitable to advise students to concentrate on their studies.
